School is closed from 20th March

On Thursday 16th February 2017, 60 children from Key Stage Two visited Birmingham Royal Ballet. In the morning, we took part in a dance workshop, where we were taught some ballet steps and learned that ballet is not just for girls. In fact, Ronaldo attended ballet classes when he was younger and has said that is what makes him so light on his feet playing football! Later on, we were told the story of Cinderella and given the opportunity to ask questions about Birmingham Royal Ballet and the production. Then we went on the stage and got to try on some real costumes! Finally, we were taken backstage and saw some actual costumes from the show and walked around the dressing rooms.

In the afternoon, we watched the show 'Cinderella'. It was fun spotting the costumes we had seen earlier in the day and recognising the characters we had been told about in our story session.

It was a fantastic day and all children were excellent ambassadors for Highfields. I have since recieved an email from the lady who organised the day and she complimented the children on the behaviour and enthusiasm throughout the trip. Well done everyone!
